2 States Movie review

There has been a lot of buzz and anticipation surrounding “2 States” movie, partly because of lovely pairing of the lead actors Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, and also due to the super success of the novel of the similar name. The aggressive promotional tactics adopted by the movie's creative team has also worked well in building hype over the movie. So, let's begin our movie review to see whether the movie warrants such hype.

Plot Outline
2 States places the cultural difference and conflict under the spotlight. It is a love story of a Punjabi boy Krish Malhotra (Arjun Kapoor) who hails from Delhi and Ananya Swaminathan is a pure Tamilian from Chennai. They fall in love while studying at IIM Ahmedabad and soon after find a respectable job.

So, now it is time for them to convince their polar opposite families for their marriage. As Krish says in the movie narration, they began their mission to make their families fall in love with each other. The movie shows the hilarious and eventful tactics and measures the couple adopt in order to get married.

Actor Performance
The lead acting pair has performed admirably well. Arjun Kapoor is the surprise of the movie as he sheds his angry and aggressive persona of his past movies and seamlessly slips into character of Krish who is calm and composed. His narration and innocence is endearing in the movie. Alia Bhatt who had immensely impressed the critics with her sublime acting in “Highway” has once again given an accomplished performance.

The supporting cast also can't be underestimated in terms of impact it had on the movie. Amrita Singh in the role of a loud Punjabi mother is funny and entertaining. Ronit Roy once again proves his acting credentials with his portrayal of a strict father. Shiv Kumar Subramaniam and Revathy as disciplined South-Indians completes “2 States.”
Positive Points
The direction by Abhishek Varman is the silent underlying force that makes movie entertaining and interesting. He uses all the elements in a right measure without overusing any, the cultural differences are sensitively and intelligently used. Alia and Arjun's amazing chemistry is another high point of “2 States”.

Negative Points
Not significant enough to mention.

Verdict
2 States is an entertaining and witty movie that is a must watch for the Bollywood fans.

Alia Bhatt asks for six re-takes to kiss Arjun Kapoor in 2 States

Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor are rumored to be dating, and according to the latest reports Alia can't get enough of Arjun Kapoor, atleast while shooting for their upcoming movie.

According to reports, Alia Bhatt decided to take six re-takes to kiss Arjun Kapoor while shooting for 2 States which is based on Chetan Bhagat's best selling novel of the same title. Surprisingly, the director was satisfied by the first take itself.

“The kiss scene shows Alia and Arjun sitting on a bench in the college canteen in IIM Ahmedabad. And all of a sudden, there is a lip-lock initiated from Alia’s end. Interestingly, the director Abhishek Varman was pretty satisfied with the first take but Alia insisted for one more which continued till the sixth,” a leading tabloid revealed.

Alia had recently revealed that she is a perfectionist when it comes to portraying emotions in the movie. She said, “I am never satisfied as an actor until I emote my feelings properly in the scene.”

The fans of the two young stars will be eagerly waiting to see them together in the movie, which is stated to release on 18 April 2014.
