Jigarthanda Tamil Movie review

Jigarthanda , is a musical gangster movie is directed by Karthik Subbaraj who made his directorial debut with highly acclaimed supernatural thriller “Pizza”. The venture is produced by Kathiresan under the Five Star Films banner.

The movie features Siddharth and Lakshmi Menon in the lead roles, while Soodhu Kavvum's Bobby Simha and Karuna, Guru Somasundaram of Aaranya Kaandam and actor-director Pratap Pothen will be seen in the supporting roles. The background score and the songs of the movie is composed by Santhosh Narayanan. Now, let's take a look at the story and the movie review.

Jigarthanda movie revolves around a love triangle featuring an aspiring filmmaker (Siddharth), an idli maker and seller (Lakshmi Menon) and a gangster (Bobby Simha). Bobby Simha is the villain and has the reputation of being a ruthless and much feared middle aged gangster. Siddharth is an innocent filmmaker who is struggling to make ends meet and fulfill his dreams.

Director Karthik Subbaraj who has already delivered a cult hit in Pizza, once again shows his good direction skills. Though, this is just his second movie, he has carved his own niche with Jigarthanda in the industry. The movie has great plot, is fast faced and has the dark hues which are fast becoming synonymous with Subbaraj's work.

The acting performance by the lead actors perfectly compliment Subbaraj's filmmaking skills. Siddharth looks sincere and intense in his role, while Simha packs aggression and menace in his role with expertise. Lakshmi is also good in her role of a simple and innocent girl. All in all, Jigarthanda is a good movie, endearing due to great plot and acting skills.

Sarabham movie is an intense thriller movie which revolves around one man's thirst for money and power. The movie is a classical tale of hunger and thrill to change and enhance ones life. The movie follows the struggle of a young man who is ready to cross all boundaries and break all rules to fulfill his dreams. And, as often is the case he falls into trouble because of his activities. So, how he manages to escape his trouble and fulfills his dreams is the rest of plot of the movie.

Sarabham was in news when it was reported that the shooting of the movie was wrapped up in just 30 months. However, the end product isn't too impressive as the movie manages to get dull and slow in some sequences. The pace and rhythm of the movie is very uneven and seems too erratic to keep the audiences interested. The actors have also delivered an average performance in the movie. Overall, Sarabham is an average, one-time watch movie.
