Bobby Jasoos, a romantic comedy melodrama is the directorial venture of Samar Shaikh and produced under the banner of Reliance Entertainment. The film which is about a female private detective, Vidya Balan appears in main lead role while other cast includes Ali Fazal, Supriya Pathak, Zarina Wahab and Arjan Bajwa. The music is scored by Shantanu Moitra and cinematography is handled by Vishal Sinha. The editing is done by Hemal Kothari while script is penned by Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh. Plot
The story of Bobby Jasoos movie turns around female protagonist Vidya Balan (Bobby) who belongs to a middle class family and aspires to become the number one detective in the old city area of Hyderabad. She tried her luck best to impress the boss and get a job, but she won't get even one. Finally, she decided to open her own detective company with the name ‘Bobby Jasoos Pvt Ltd’ and where she gets several assignments. Alongwith this a side romance is brewing between Bobby and Tassavur (Ali Fazal), a TV journalist. Free-spirited Bobby in order to prove her worth in front of her father, she moves through various circumstances. At last, how she proved herself worth and her journey to become a well-known detective is the core of the movie.
Performance
Multitalented Vidya who has played many avatars at ease, this time also she looked convincing in her bubbly, happy-go-lucky and free-spirited detective role. Vidya has also appeared in different makeovers to solve the puzzle and did a decent job as detective. Ali Fazal, Vidya's love interest in the movie is good in parts, his chemistry with Vidya is worth praising and done a brilliant job. Supporting characters Supriya Pathak, Zarina Wahab, Kiran Kumar and Rajendra Gupta also suit their roles well.
Positive Points
121 minutes long movie starts on a high note and continues with some ups and down till end. The melodrama of coincidences, conflict and then resolution is narrated well onscreen, but more efforts of Samar could have made it more better. The performance of whole cast is good and all get good amount of screen presence. Shantanu Moitra’s music and background score is outstanding and blends perfectly with each passing scene.
Negative points
The movie has undoubtedly many flaws, but right amount of fun, emotion and acting overshadowed them. It appears as if some scenes are unnecessarily intrigued in the flick. Abrupt ending looks a bit unusual and the climax of the Ali-Vidya love story is not known uptill end.
Verdict
Bobby Jasoos is worth watching not for Bobby Jasoos entire movie, but for Vidya and her chemistry with Ali Fazal who walks shoulder to shoulder with her.'
