Athithi is a thriller movie directed by Bharathan. It is a remake of 2010 hit Malayalam movie “Cocktail” which was itself unauthorized rip-off of a British movie “Butterfly on a Wheel” featuring Gerard Butler and Peirce Brosnan. The venture is produced by Ramakrishnan Nair under the Spellbound Films Inc banner.
Athithi features Nandha, Nikesh Ram and Ananya in the leading roles while Thambi Ramiah, V. V. Prasanna, Varsha, and Senrayan play pivotal roles. The music of the venture is composed by Bharathwaj and Ratheesh Vegha. Now, let's take a look at the Athithi movie review.
Athithi Movie revolves around the story of a married couple who lead a perfect life and have everything in materialistic sense. The man is a successful businessman and has a blissfull married life. But soon one incident turns their life upside down.
A man one day asks for a lift in their car. And then , disaster strikes as the stranger tells them that he has kidnapped their daughter and starts blackmailing them. So, will they be able to save their daughter, is the rest of the story of the movie.
There wasn't much to do in terms of plot or character development as the movie is a remake of another movie, therefore director Bharathan had plenty of time to focus on other aspects of the movie. However, it seems he has been unable to utilise it properly as there are some significant flaws in the movie. The movie has an uneven rhythm and flow of the movie is also erratic.
The movie cast has also decent an average movie. But thanks to the good plot of the movie whcih has been sucessful twice before, Athithi could be tolerated once.
