Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty Movie review

Akshay Kumar after the failure of his recent movie “Boss” is all set to woo audiences with his action thriller “Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty ”. The movie is directed by ace director A.R. Murugadoss who will direct his first Bollywood movie post super-success of “Ghajini”. Sonakshi Sinha is cast in the female leading role in the movie. Let's analyse whether Akshay's latest venture is worth a watch, in our movie review.

Plot Outline
Holiday begins with army man Virat Bakshi (Akshay Kumar) returning home for his vacation. During, his vacation he falls in love with feisty Saiba (Sonakshi Sinha). However, all is not rosy as the terrorist sleeper cells have started their operation to shake the very foundations of the city. Virat who is also working as a undercover agent looks to root out the sleeper cells. But, these cells have spread their roots in the city and are looking to fulfill their mission at all costs. So, Virat's fight to foil their devious plans is rest of the story of “Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty ”.

Actor Performances
Akshay Kumar shines with his brilliant acting in the movie. The movie is tailor made for him and he doesn't disappoint as his superb action sequences never fail to entertain you. Director should also be lauded for cleverly using Akshay to drive the movie forward. His dialogue delivery and expressions are impeccable as he seamlessly slips into Virat's role.

Sonakshi Sinha doesn't has too much to do. However, she impresses in her meagre role. Freddy Daruwala who is cast in the role of a ruthless terrorist, has also done a brilliant work. He expertly plays the role of perfect villain who is cold, merciless and wicked in the movie.

Positive PointsMurugadoss shows his expertise in making action movie with a fast paced screenplay which keeps audience on the edge throughout. The flow of the movie and the interlinking of various events is also very cleverly done. The action sequences are also well shot and capitalises on Akshay's enviable martial arts skills.

Negative PointsThe romantic angle between Saiba and Virat is undercooked and sometimes acts as a distraction. Some of the characters are also under developed.

Verdict
Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty ” is a good action movie and marks Akshay's resounding comeback after the disappointment of “Boss”.
