Koothara Malayalam Movie Review, a thriller genre movie is the directorial venture of
'Second Show' fame director Srinath Rajendran. The cinematic venture is
produced by Shahul Hammeed Marikar under the banner Marikar Films and
scripted by Vini Vishwa Lal. The editing for the mysterical drama is
done by Praveen K. L. and N. B. Srikanth and cinematography is handled
by Pappu.
Koothara features Bharath, Tovino and Sunny Wayne are portrayed in the lead roles, while legendary actor Mohanlal appeared in an extended cameo role. Bhavana, Janani Iyer, Gauthami Nair and Shritha Sivadas played supporting character roles. The story of Koothara is about three college students, Koober (Bharath), Tharun (Tovino) and Ram (Sunny Wayne) who are studying in the same college. Trio have rebellious nature and are in the against of the policies and rules set by the college management. One day, three of them accidentally meet Usthad Saali (Mohanlal) who is a fisherman, and then onwards a series of changes in their lifestyle and way of thinking come. How Mohanlal changes their lives is the crux of the movie.
Mohanlal's flawless performance has complemented the script of the film. Also, leading trio have done good job in playing the pivotal role of college students and same is with supporting cast that seamlessly slips into their respective roles. The story is very well written and nicely incorporated on the screen. Srinath must receive a special mention for impressive narration.
The music of the movie is also good and sync well with different instances. Though, in extended cameo role, but Malayalis would find the new impressive look of Mohanlal that they had never seen before. The story has love, romance, action, drama, thrill and suspense that made the flick to receive a great number of applause and would not have allowed the audience to leave the edges of their seats even once.
