47 to 84 Punjabi Movie review

47 to 84 is a drama movie which is based on real events. The movie is directed by Rajiv Sharma and produced by Babli Singh in association with Shemaroo Films Pvt Ltd. The screeplay of the movie is written by Lally Gill who conducted in depth research to incorporate the real life stories in the movie.

The star cast of the movie includes Nattasha Rana, Zafar Dhillon, Mahaveer Bhullar, Neelam Sivia, Hardeep Gill and Ashish Duggal. The music of the movie is composed by R. Sheen. Now, let's begin the movie review of the venture which focusses on traumatic events of 1984.

The 47 to 84 movie tells tha tale of a nine year old girl who witnesses the chaos and massacre that erupted after the partition of India. And when she finally finds some peace and calm, her life is turned upside down as Delhi is engulfed in the madness following Indira Gandhi's assasination leading to the brutal Sikh genocide.

The movie shows the injustice and cruetly that thousands of Sikhs suffered during those terrible times. It also portrays the role of politicians and other civil officers in fanning the violence and unleashing a murderous hatred directed towards innocents. The movie also follows the subsequent desperate attempt for justice and redemption.

First of all, director Rajiv Sharma has to be commended for his intelligent handling of such a sensitive topic. The movie portrays the cruetlies that the Sikh community suffered during the two massacres and aptly asks what is the difference between the two and how could be call India our own country after 1984. The director however, is bit lacking in film making skills and in some sequences his lack of technique is visible.

In terms of acting, the cast of the movie has had mix results. In some sequences, the acting is very good and in very next it looks amateurish which is made worse by some poor dialogue writing. The movie could have been made much better.

Sandhira movie review rating – 2.5/5
