Manjunath Movie review

Manjunath is the autobiographical movie directed by Sandeep Varma who has also developed the screenplay of the movie. The venture was funded with contributions from Manjunath Shanmugam Trust, director Sandeep and others who supported Sandeep's nobel project.

The identity of the lead actor who will play role of Manjunath has been kept secret. The only information that has been revealed is that he is a young South Indian actor. The other important members of the star cast are Seema Biswas, Yashpal Sharma, Divya Dutta, Kishor Kadam and Rajesh Khattar. Now, let's take a look at the movie review of this venture which is based on real events.

Manjunath revolves around the life and social crusade of 27 year old Manjunath. Manjunath who was IIM Lucknow alumnus, was a marketing manager of an oil corporation, the capacity in which he uncovered a big oil adulteration scandal.

Manjunath movie was threatened and tempted with bribes to roll over and to let the nexus run unchecked. However, honest and upright Manju decides to fight for the right cause, and for which he is killed on duty. The movie focusses on the ethical questions which his death raised and the impact his killing head on the society.

Director Sandeep Varma is said to have done in-depth research into the events that led to the Manju's killing. And, the work clearly shows in the movie, as it has touch of reality and unadulterated portrayal of the truth. Varma masterfully weaves all the elements of Manju's life to make a poignant and moving movie.

The lead actor who plays Manjunath's role has done an outstanding job. The other actors have also given a good performance, with experienced campaigners Divya Dutta and Yashpal Sharma shinning in particular.

The idea to sign Parikarma to compose the music of the movie is also a masterstroke as their music amplifies movies authenticity. In a nutshell, in the era when we are throwing obscene amount of money on some ridiculous movies, Manjunath deserves to be watched atleast once.

Sandhira movie review rating 4/5
