Romeo Ranjha Punjabi Movie review

Romeo Ranjha which for past some weeks has been hyped as Punjabi movie industry's answer to glamorous action heist movies is directed by Navaniat Singh who had earlier directed “Singh vs Kaur”. The movie is written by Dheeraj Ratan and produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu & Manmord Sidhu with Hansraj Railhan as Co-Producer.

Jazzy B and debutante Garry Sandhu are cast in the leading roles while Monica Bedi, Parul Gulati, Amannn Grewal, Rana Ranbir and Yograj Singh feature in supporting pivotal roles. In our movie review, let's analyze whether Romeo Ranjha delivers on it's pre-release hype.

Romeo (Jazzy B) and Ranjha (Garry Sandhu) are two con artists who live-off their fraudulent practices. And as the cliche goes, they plan to mount a final big game fraud after which they can comfortably put their conning days behind and can walk into the sunset. But as it usually happens, the adversary whom they are trying to sponge off is not an amateur, so the two heroes have to be at their best to wriggle out of the problem.

As the story doesn't offer anything new to the audience, the onus was on director to use the often used elements to make an entertaining product, instead what Navaniat offers is a drab and dull movie sprinkled with loads of amateurish acting. Jazzy B gives a average performance while his lead partner Garry is even more woeful. His inexperience and lack of acting skills shines brightly in his debut.

Untill now I used to believe other singers who are performing remarkably well in movies don't have any acting skills whatsoever and the success of movies was due to presence of accomplished comedians such as Binoo Dhillon and Jaswinder Bhalla. But watching Garry made me realize that some of them are in fact good actors.

The dialogues of the movie are cheesy and cringeworthy. The music of the movie and some of the songs such as Jugnu and title track are the only positive points of the movie. In a nutshell, Romeo Ranjha movie is a woeful attempt, which won't be able to con audiences.
