Yesterday, a local Mumbai court framed charges against the actor and his two friends, Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, for assaulting a South Africa based businessman and his father-in-law.
The public prosecutor Wajeed Sheikh revealed that 42 year old actor and his friends have been booked
under Section 325 (assault) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. However, the trio hasn't pleaded guilty as the charges were read in the court.
Saif and his friends were after arrested NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma filed a complaint alleging that Saif had manhandled him at the Taj Hotel on February 22, 2012.
According to the police report, Saif got in altercation after Sharma protested about Saif and his friends rowdy behavior and asked them to keep it down. Saif then allegedly abused them and later punched Sharma in the nose, fracturing it. Sharma also alleged that Saif and his friends manhandled his father-in-law.
Saif along with his wife Kareena Kapoor, sister-in-law Karishma Kapoor, was accompanied by actress Malaika Arora Khan and her sister Amrita Arora and some male friends, when the incident occurred.
Meanwhile, Saif on his part has maintained that Sharma had provoked him by using abusive and derogatory language against the women accompanying him.
