Yashwantrao Chavan - Bakhar Eka Vaadalaachi Marathi movie review

Yashwantrao Chavan - Bakhar Eka Vaadalaachi is a biopic on the life of famous Marathi politician and statesman of the same namesake. The movie is directed by the acclaimed and influential director Jabbar Patel who is well known for his 1998 English language biopic “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar” which was well received winning the national award for Best feature film in English. The movie features Ashok LokhandeLubna Salim and Nana Patekar in leading roles. Now, let's take a look at the story and the movie review.

This movie is based on life of Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan who was the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra after the division of Bombay State and the fifth Deputy Prime Minister of India. Chavan was well known for his working for the upliftment of the farmers and was affectionately called “Leader of Common People”. In this movie, the effect he had on the society and the ideals which drove me are masterfully shown. Patel has tried to show one of the most respected Marathi statesman as he was seen by his close aides a tireless social activist.

Veteran actor Ashok Lokhande, known for his role as Altoo in the TV serial 'Son Pari', has done a commendable job portraying the legendary politician on the celluloid. Lokhande manages to surprise audiences who have seen him in comical bit part roles, with a strong performance. Veteran actress Lubna Salim ably supports Lokhande in the wife of Chavan's wife. Nana Patekar is influential in his association with the movie. All in all, another great movie from veteran director Patel.
