This romantic tragedy movie is completely adapted from Malayalam novel "Balyakalasakhi" written by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, which is published in 1944. It is considered as Basheer's best work. The story of this movie revolves around Majeed (Prem Nazir) and Suhra (Isha Talwar), who are in love with each other from childhood. Actually, Majeed who was born to rich parents falls in love with his neighbour Suhra. After her father's death, when Suhra struggles, Majeed pleads with his father to sponsor her education, but he refuses.
