Dee Saturday Night movie review

Known for his movies like "Market" and "Chaahat - Ek Nasha" which featured actress Manisha Koirala, director Jai Prakash said he missed working with her for Dee Saturday Night as she is his lucky mascot. Manisha Koirala was to play the protagonist in the movie but could not owing to her illness. The movie stars Prashant Narayanan, Arif Zakaria, Aman Verma, Amit Dimri, Mahi Khanduri, Gaurav Dixit, Mushtaq Khan, Vishwajeet Pradhan and Nazneen Patel.

Dee Saturday Night is the story of a small town girl from Meerut, character played by Mahi Khanduri, who has high ambitions. To fulfill her dreams she comes to Mumbai and begins her career as a computer operator in a big construction company. While at the job, she develops friendship with Neha who is the personal secretary of the owner of the company. Being with Neha she gets exposed to the night life of Mumbai and in no time starts drinking, consuming drugs and partying at the disc. She meets Ashutosh, character played by Gaurav Dixit, at a party and falls for him only to realize later that he is already married and used her emotionally. Later she finds true love in Rohit Verma, character played by Prashant Narayanan, who happens to be a contract killer. She plans to take revenge from Ashutosh through Rohit.

Dee Saturday Night is a thriller drama with a story that is not very new for Bollywood. A small town girl comes to Mumbai with big dreams and ends up at rave parties. Eventually, she falls in love with a guy who is already married and plans to use another guy to take revenge from him. One needs to watch the movie to know whether she succeeds in taking the revenge.

The performances by the trio, Mahi Khanduri, Gaurav Dixit and Prashant Narayanan hold you through the film. The film certainly lacks good music but has strong direction to its rescue. A Bollywood flick that lacks the backing of any big star and even has a weak story line has its fate to be decided by the box office. Overall, it is just an average movie that can only survive for the way it has been told.
