IIFA Awards 2014: IIFA generates activity for the film industry

For the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) 2014, the executive director of the Tampa Hillsborough Film and Digital Media Commission has planned a tour for Indian filmmakers in order to familiarize them to the market.

A lot of times when you think of Tampa, you think of beaches. In Hillsborough we don’t have beaches, but we have the most beautiful beaches across the bay” said Dale Gordon, Executive Director of the Tampa Hillsborough Film and Digital Media Commission.

She wishes to gather a group of 25 filmmakers to take part in the "fam" tour (familiarization tour) and said that she is open to collaborating with St. Petersburg/Clearwater Film Commission to bring the group across the bay. The tour will possibly highlight the Tampa skyline, Port Tampa Bay, Ybor City and Plant City farmlands.

The aim of the tour is to provide “nice big snapshot of the area as a whole,” she said.

She believes that the role of the commission is to associate with the local film community for IIFA Awards2014 and support the Indian film community. An instance of which is, the commission recently helped Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor when he was searching a location in the Bay area for his forthcoming movie.

The goal end result of the event is that it will be a catalyst for more film production in the market, specifically from Bollywood,” she said.
