Jal Movie Review

Jal, a breathtakingly photographed tragedy of Shakespearean proportions, an action-drama flick is directed by rookie filmmaker Girish Malik and produced by Puneet Singh under the banner of One World films. Jal is set in the 'Rann of Kutch' about an overconfident young water astrologer named Bakka, who tries to solve the drought problems in his village. Meanwhile, Bakka faces unpredictable circumstances when he tries to help a female in saving flamingos. The story of love, relationships, enmity and deceit is penned by the director itself. The star cast of the movie includes Purab Kohli, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Kirti Kulhari and Mukul Dev. Let's begin movie review and story.

Plot
Story of Jal Movie turns around Bakka (Purab H Kohli) who is gifted with a special ability to find water in the desert is somehow able to convince the residents of his village that he is a divine dowser. Bakka’s community located in one of that part of India where there is a lot of scarcity of water, but an enemy village possess a well. Bakka falls in love with the neighbouring enemy village chieftain's daughter Kirti Kulhari and insists on marrying the enemy's daughter Kesar. While Bakka is struggling with this issue, Russian animal activist, Kim (Saidah Jules) asks for Bakka’s help in finding fresh water to save flamingoes that are dying in the area. For the flamingoes, diesel pump is shipped to an area near the village and nothing is done for the thirsty villagers. Then, the real tale unfolds and rival town’s Puniya (Mukul Dev), conspires to destroy Bakka, and the tragedy befalls Kesar (Kirti Kulhari), and story movee on.

Positive points
According to the movie reviews, "Jal" is a work of remarkable resonance. The movie takes you to the humanity's most deprived and financially challenged part of civilization where drinking water is more precious than gold. The appealing script of the movie gained positive comments and capable to hook the interest of the audience very well. The flick very well depicts the dark side of human character and shocking climax is impressive. The cast of 'Jal' has done full justice with their performance and cinematography managed to capture Rann of Kutch like never before. The incredible music is scored by Sonu Nigam & Bickram Ghosh, used a mix of Indian & International sounds with a lot of percussions.

Negative points
Some accents in the movie is thick and there are some scenes that makes the audience feel that it is a guy's film. There are some segments in the movie that just don't work and appears to be not worth, in accordance to the reviews.

Verdict
'Jal' review, an artistic and entertaining movie get very good response in Indian as well as in the international market. The movie has created a buzz in the box-office and received a great applause. It screens at Busan festival and find a place in the Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) with no big star power attached to it.
