Narendra Modi meets Rajinikanth, legendary actor calls it a courtesy call


BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday met Tamil superstar and legendary actor Rajnikanth at his residence, giving nudge to fierce speculation despite, Rajnikanth's insistence that it was merely a courtesy call.

Rajnikanth who was wearing his trademark white shirt and dhoti wished Modi “all the best.” He claimed that he was Modi's “well wisher”, while Modi called Rajnikanth a “good friend.”

“This is not a political meeting. When Modiji visited me when I was hospitalised, I had invited him to have a cup of tea with me whenever he came to Chennai. So he has come now,” Rajinikanth told reporters outside his Poes Garden residence.

Large crowd comprising of fans and journalist had gathered outside superstar's house in a bid to catch glimpse of two of the most iconic personalties of the nation. The duo was seen shaking hands and hugging each other.

As the Lok Sabha polls are scheduled to take place in Tamil Nadu on April 24, the aim of the Modi's visit is speculated to seek superstar's support. BJP has formed alliance with five local parties to power their election campaign.
